The Microfarm Network
Our journey began with a simple love of food. For us, great food starts with great soil. Partnering with local homeowners, we utilize techniques of permaculture, regenerative agriculture, and agroecology to convert the arable land beneath unproductive grass lawns into thriving microfarms. In addition to producing delicious fruits and vegetables, these farms support local pollinators, reduce the urban heat island effect, sequester carbon, increase soil organic matter, improve local air quality and fight against urban food deserts.
The Kitchen
Once harvested, our produce is brought to a central commissary kitchen for processing. Here, chefs turn raw ingredients into delicious seasonal meals. Our chefs work directly with our farmers, providing feedback on preferred plant varieties so that we can continuously improve and experiment with our unique meal offerings. Our meals maintain simplicity while bursting with flavor and color; we seek to honor the farmer, the plants, and the land that make all of this happen. At the same time, we seek to honor the diverse communities in which we serve, often partnering with local chefs for inspiration and recipes.
The Community
We believe the world can be different, can work for everyone, and for us that starts with food. Healthy soils make great food, and great food builds thriving communities. Our mission is to build local food sovereignty with nutritious, delicious farm-fresh food that is accessible to all. We achieve this by utilizing our Variable Pricing Model; this allows us to modify our price point to reflect the median income of the neighborhood in which we serve. In this way, we create a model of inclusive disruption, inviting everyone to join us in creating a better food system for all. Everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy and delicious food.
